History of Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy

Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy, linked to Salem Church and South Quincy, serves as a burial ground for families from various backgrounds. Founded in 1875 under Rev. Simon Kuhlenhoelter’s leadership, the cemetery holds significant historical value. It features the Minister’s Circle, reserved for ministers of the Evangelical and Reformed Churches. Over the years, many notable figures and their families have been interred here, including Rev. Kuhlenhoelter himself. Despite suffering extensive damage in a storm in 1902, the cemetery remains an important community site for remembrance and reflection.
